Clean sandy beaches surround the Puerto Vallarta/Bucerias/ La Cruz area - many adjacent to local restaurants for a snack or tropical drink. One of the most popular beaches, Distilladeras, located 3 miles past La Cruz on the road to Punta de Mita, is very private and has a palapa restaurant for food and drink.
Punta de Mita, located at the western tip of the northern shore, is very popular with tourists because of the multitude of palapa restaurants located on the sand. Punta de Mita has a variety of activities which include kayaking, boogie boarding, snorkeling and tours to the Marrieta Islands just a mile off shore with excellent snorkeling.
Sayulita is a small fishing village located 20 minutes north of Bucerias and is very popular for surfing and also has an excellent selection of restaurants.
