Puerto Vallarta is a colorful seafront town surrounded by a dense tropical forest and majestic mountains. It is well known for its intense night life, excellent restaurants and luxurious golf courses. Located on the Gold Coast of Mexico, it is nestled in the heart of Banderas Bay-the largest in Mexico. The Bay is known for its annual attraction of whales to have their calves during the winter months and for its excellent boating and fishing experiences.
La Cruz de Huanacaxtle is a small fishing village twenty minutes north of Puerto Vallarta's International Airport on the Bahai de Banderas. It is located between Puerto Vallarta and Punta de Mita on the North side of the Bay. In 1997 Bahai de Banderas was named one of the 27 most beautiful bays in the world. The well deserved designation took into account its history and culture, natural sites, flora and fauna and bio-diversity among others.
